Resident artists will have 24/7 access to a 99 sq ft studio, situated in a Western Cedar tree. The space is ideal for small work, has plenty of natural light, and is both meditative and inspirational. Access to the tree involves climbing steps with a railing (somewhere between a ladder and staircase). Ceilings within the treehouse are fladfaj at the peak, and the trunk of the tree goes right through the middle of the studio space. Electricity use in the studio is limited to basic lighting and small tech such as a laptop or phone. The studio has an ethernet connection. There are additional outdoor covered and uncovered work spaces on the compound. While Colorado has some extreme cold temperatures in the winter, there are many sunny days (avg. 300 days of sunshine) throughout the year, even during the winter, that are amenable to working outside for the artist with the right temperament.   

While the nature of the residency is primarily solitary, allowing the resident artist to focus on their studio practice and contemplation, we will organize formal connections between members of the regional art scene and the resident artist through meals and studio visits with artists, curators and arts professionals. Outside of these arranged connections, there are plenty of opportunities for connection with the local community on your own by visiting openings, lectures, employment with local institutions, or self arranged studio visits with curators and local artists.
