The Drawing Never Dies (DND) art residency is a creative retreat embracing the directness and simplicity of drawing as the most fundamental act of visual communication, as well as the importance of an inspiring and conducive environment for creative play.

We provide a small studio in a tree and an efficient private living situation. We do not provide regular meals but guests have a kitchenette and we arrange one meal with professionals from the regional art scene to foster community and forge new connections.

We offer an inspiring setting for artists to focus on their contemplative and creative practice to accelerate artistic and personal evolution. There is no formal exhibition tied to the residency so it’s a low risk opportunity to experiment. It’s the perfect environment for an artist to flourish. If preferable, you may open your studio and present your work to guests during the dinner event or arrange independent studio visits.

We have historically offered short term residencies to include artists who balance work and or family obligations. In 2027 we are are moving to month long sessions however you do not need to stay the full month if you are selected for a residency session.

The residency cost is $995/session and includes furnished lodging in the cabin, 24 hour access to the treehouse studio, 24 hour access to the gallery, access to outdoor workspaces, utilities, internet, television streaming, off street parking, and a small introductory gathering with members of Denver’s creative community.

The ideal candidate for this residency is easygoing, creative, open-minded, has a genuine excitement for their creative practice and curiosity about a new location (like a treehouse in Denver, Colorado). We encourage artists, writers and curators from various backgrounds, viewpoints and approaches drawing to apply.

If this describes you, we encourage you to apply and hope to work together.

The 2026 residency program is currently full we will open our 2027 call later this year.
